Resume:
The F-City H2, the first hydrogen powered, urban vehicle to be homologated in France is now awaiting homologation in Switzerland and the first production test.
The F-City H2 is the outcome of a partnership between the Michelin Research and Innovation Center dedicated to clean mobility, the French automotive producer FAM Automobiles, EVE Systems, FC LAB and the Institut Pierre Vernier.
According to Pierre Varenne, Director of the Michelin Research and Innovation Center, the F-City H2 is the first urban electric vehicle with an energy pack (fuel cell range extender powered by hydrogen and coupled with a lithium-ion battery) to be homologated in France. Fifteen of these vehicles have already been assembled by FAM Automobiles and will be tested in 2012.
The F-City H2 is currently in the process of homologation in the Swiss canton of Fribourg and the first models could be on sale by 2014.
The fuel cell energy pack weighs 120 kg, which is half the weight of the pack in the original F-City prototype. With a range of 150 km the F-City H2 refuels its hydrogen tank in a matter of minutes.
